UMVOTI AIDS CENTRE

Umvoti AIDS Centre (UAC) is a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO No. 022-255), Public Benefit Organization 930025812. UAC is strategically located on the route between Durban, Pietermaritzburg and has been in existence since 2001, with its main office based in Greytown, a town in the District of UMzinyathi, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

In 2009, Sappi donated a 6-hectare piece of land, situated in the middle of informal settlements and hostels on the outskirts of Greytown, on which we have developed office space, a warehouse, safe park, a community garden, crèche and ECD facilities and a place of safety for child abuse victims.

The Umvoti Aids Centre provides comprehensive and dynamic programmes, mobilising the community to fulfil its own vision of a brighter tomorrow. The UAC is experienced and has been recognized at delivering high quality home-based care and prevention programmes as well as giving support to orphans and vulnerable children.

More recently, the organisation has invested a great deal of time and energy in establishing community development initiatives that train, build capacity and foster sustainable livelihoods.

The Umvoti Aids Centre now manages a large portfolio of programmes that use a more holistic approach to meeting the needs of the population of Umvoti, UMsinga and UMshwathi Municipality.
