Home based care project 

 

The collective heart of the Umvoti Aids Centre is the 20 Community Care givers who provide palliativecare to the sick in their communities.

 

The Umvoti Aids Centre provides capacity building and skills development for our community caregivers so that they can continue progressing towards gainful employment and generating an income for their families. The Caregivers serves their community through:

  • Ancillary health care and assistance with TB and ARV regimens

  • Encouraging Voluntary Counselling and Testing (HCT)

  • Promoting Reproductive Health Care, PMTCT and VMMC

  • Identification and care of orphans and vulnerable children in accordance with Isibindi model

  • Forming support groups for PLWHAs and linking them to micro-finance initiatives

  • Relief for the poorest of the poor through provision of blankets, clothing, and nutritious meals

  • Referrals to the Umvoti Aids Centre to help attain government documentation and services

  • Hygiene and nutrition education

  • Promotion of Human Rights and Gender Equality
